MATH 081 MATH 152 |
June 23, 2008 Welcome to my website. My name is Marjie Vittum-Jones. I am a full-time math instructor at South Seattle Community College in Seattle, Washington, United States of America. If you are interested in what South Seattle Community College has to offer, both on campus and online, please go to http://southseattle.edu. If you are one of my students, then the following paragraphs are for you! Spring quarter Students: your final exams are available for you to pick up from me any time during Summer quarter and the first two weeks of Fall quarter. I have scanned the answers onto the class website (the link to that site is at the end of this paragraph). Again, your class website will be available here only through the first few weeks of Summer and Fall quarters, so don't wait to learn from your errors on the final. Math 085 Math 098 Math 125 Summer quarter Students, WELCOME! How do you like my little 'math' movie (in the upper left corner of this website)? I am very pleased with it and I had fun making it. Yup, I made it myself when I took Art 210, Computer Art, a class offered here at South! Now, let's get down to the business of learning. We are colleagues in your educational endeavers. I believe that it is my responsibility to help you learn by being available and accessible and by providing you opportunities to understand the material. It is my job to be similar to a guide. In addition: For on-campus classes, I should be organized and prepared for every class period to give lectures, provide assignments, worksheets, projects, activities and quizzes geared to improve your understanding - all appropriate for your particular math class level. For online classes, I should provide materials in a timely manner and assist with any questions you might have via the phone or email, with a 24-hour or less response time. For those of you in the area, a face-to-face appointment is also an option. For all classes I believe I am to design and give reasonable tests to help evaluate your progress as well as to aid in your learning. I am to be respectful of you and of the others in your class. You, as my student, have the responsibility to follow my instructions, to do your assignments and to ask questions when necessary for your understanding. You are to keep up-to-date on all work listed on the class schedules and outlines. You are also responsible for regularly attending class and coming prepared to learn or, for online classes, you are responsible for working on your math on a regular basis. All students are to respond within 24-36 hours to any emails or phone calls from me. It is your responsibility to seek help whenever needed, from me, the MAST, CLIC or any other source you may have for math assistance. You are to be respectful of me and of the other students in your class. In the left column of this website (under my little movie), you will find your class website. Visit this site for any information or copies of materials you may need. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns you have regarding your class and your learning. (To email me, just click on the link under my picture in the top right corner of this page.) My office hours will be held in the MAST which is located in RSB 018. The MAST stands for Math And Science Tutoring, and opens on the third day of the quarter (Wednesday, April 2nd). My office hours (held in the MAST) are Monday through Thursdays from 9:10 to 9:40 am. Any other times you need help, you may go to the MAST for help from anyone who works in the MAST and/or you may make an appointment to see me. Free tutoring is available in the MAST Monday through Thurday from 8 am to 2:00 &6 pm to 8:30 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am - 2 pm. Again, welcome to this website and to my class! |
